Including an update from our Lucas Shop! | July, 2009 |
Help us fly the WBA flag at the Dallas Summer Boat Show, July 24-26. You can represent the WBA at the WBA Booth, receive a complimentary WBA T-Shirt (new design and color!) and get into the show for free. In addition, you'll be supporting a major new form of revenue for the Club...the organizers of the Dallas Summer Boat Show are |
donating a portion of the proceeds from the Dockside Market space rentals to the WBA. The Sale, a nautical flea market, will be the only one of its kind in North Texas, and promises to be a major fundraiser for us in the future. To volunteer for a shift or two, contact Mark Webster via email, or at (214) 403-3851. |

Harvey Pizza Party a Grand Success! |
---|
By Elizabeth Webster There was something for everyone at the WBA's summer soiree held June 5th at Ray and Carol Harvey's elegant estate on Inwood Road. The uber-picnic was a way to kick off the summer season and it was clear that nothing had been forgotten. Many of the club's members were there to catch a glimpse of Ray's new 1956 Chris-Craft Capri trailered out front between Jim Donovan's Harley and a mobile pizzeria. While the captains were taking in gaskets and bungs, their spouses could be found oohing and ahhing over the splendid gardens, fountain pool and lavish outdoor living areas. Not to be left out, the younger generation had endless fun volleying out on the lighted tennis court. With so many distractions it took something truly spectacular to bring folks to the table and Jay Jernier's Neopolitan pizza oven on wheels was just the thing. Pan after pan of delicious pizzas had guests coming back for more and praising the new and unique way to cater the perfect party. Carol and Ray have really set the bar high for the WBA and it was one evening that will not soon be forgotten. |

Lucas Shop Update: Got Hemi? Troy Marshall's 1948 Hacker Triple Clockwise from upper right: The true length of the boat and the scale of the project is seen from on high. Exhaust pipes required a wedge-shaped cut and new weld to clear a stringer. Using a rat-tail file, Troy reams the through-hull opening for the water intake to cool the Chrysler Hemi. Robin looks into the very full engine compartment of the Hacker Triple. |
