BOO BOO and family made
a road trip to the Northern Woods of Wisconsin for a weeklong
vacation. The roundtrip drive from Dallas was 2500 miles and went
without any problems. The Lone Stone Lake we visited was small however
very clear, spring feed, and with the air temperatures in the mid 70’s
for a high and 45 to 55 for the lows was a big relief from the Texas
heat. The boat worked flawlessly and preformed well while all the
family and “out-laws” went skiing in the chilly waters. Century built
these boats for this very task and we removed her signature sliding
top for the trip. We watched Bald Eagles fishing the lake from a few
hundred feet away! On Wednesday we portaged to Eagle River and went on
a chain-o-lakes cruise that went for miles along the river, Yellow
Birch Lake, Duck Lake, Otter Lake, Eagle Lake, and Voyager Lake. The
family group went on a pontoon boat while Richard and I made the run
in BOO BOO for some father son time. We did see a few other wooden
boats tied up along the way but none in the water running. Timing did
not allow for us to attend the Antique & Classic Wooden Boat Show held
in Minocqua WI but we would have attended if the timing had allowed.
The total experience was a great reward for the time spent restoring
these beauties and made it all worthwhile! Now to get the Seamaid and
Coronado finished!
