Beautiful Canyon Creek Country Club will again be the venue of the annual WBA Installation Banquet on January 19th, 2008. Plans for the menu, program and other activities are being finalized now. Please put this event on your calendar. Invitations will be coming in December.
Mike Gomes brought a wealth of research and information about famous Gar Wood Boats to the October WBA meeting. Mike's presentation included a good overview of the history of Gar Wood the racer, boat designer and entrepreneur. Wood's collaboration with Chris Craft and his daring combinations of hull design and raw power were discussed. Mike concluded the presentation with a collection of images of surviving Gar Woods, beautifully restored and in treasured collections across the country. Mike is the proud owner of three Gar Woods...and counting?
The Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, NY is a nerve center of our hobby, and Seb Borello is right in the middle of things there. Seb spends the summer months in Clayton, and is an active volunteer at the museum, working on restoration projects and new boat construction. Seb serves as our club's archivist, and has always has news of the latest from Clayton. Don't miss this year's update, which begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, at Midway Point, LBJ at Midway.
