Due to soggy conditions at the Fort Worth Boat Club on Eagle Mountain Lake in May, the Wood, Waves & Wheels event was rescheduled for Saturday, June 15th. The Fort Worth Boat Club is a fine venue, and this show attracts some beautiful boats, cars and bikes. Click on the image at left for full flyer.

It's a perfect place for a show, and this is a great opportunity for us to support a sister club and mingle with a fine group of antique and classic boating enthusiasts from the other side of the Metroplex.

Please register by contacting Trey Bull at louisbull@charter.net or by giving him a ring at 817-247-7980. Our informal survey showed healthy interest. Let's have a good turnout for this show!

Lake Tyler Rendezvous June 15 !

The Lake Tyler Rendezvous is on for June 15! The day is to include launching at The Boulders at Lake Tyler Marina, owned by Bob Peppard, a cruise on the lake, lunch at The Boulders, and a visit to the home and impressive car and boat barn of Billy Hibbs.

A good number of WBA members with their boats have already committed to the event. If you would like to attend this memorable day with the club, please let Scott Myers know asap. We've been trying to make this happen for years. Let's make it great!

Dils Invite WBA to July 20th Rendezvous!

Stacey and Jeff Dils have again graciously invited the WBA to attend a Rendezvous on their home waters of Lake Cypress Springs! Mark you calendar for this fun outing.

Details will be provided as the date approaches. Plan on a fun day on the water with your WBA friends. It'll be a full day of cruising, dining and celebrating our hobby.

Keels & Wheels Recap Featured at May Meeting

It was a Keels & Wheels night at the May 16th meeting of the WBA! Award winners brought their trophies, attendees told their various stories, and Bilge Pump editor David Kanally shared the video that he took of the event.

In other news, Robin McGeorge (right) was presented the "Golden Hammer Award" for his recent work on the carburetor of Mark Danielson's boat. While others struggled with needle adjustment and small wrenches, Robin grabbed a claw hammer, tapped the carb three times, and vroooom! The Century 6-cylinder ran like a top. David Sheets (left) did the honors. You can see the Keels & Wheels video on line, whenever you like, at on the WBA photos and videos page:

Donated Lyman Still Available, Fisher Chris Gets a Bottom!

(Above) This beautifully restored 1958 16' Lyman with a 1960 Evinrude 40hp motor has been donated by Paul Kane to the WBA. We'd like to offer it to club members as is now, before we invest any time in the boat.

(Above) She's ready to go, and we'll bring her to Lake Tyler on June 15, so you can see her in operation! A detailed photo book documenting the extensive restoration is included with the boat.

(Below) All 27 ribs of the Lyman were replaced by Paul Kane during his restoration of this beauty. You RARELY see that much care taken in a lapstrake restoration. Buy it.

Next WBA Monthly Meeting June 20, 2019, Mark Your Calendar!

boatOur next meeting will be Thursday, June 20th, 2019 at 7 p.m. at Two Guys from Italy at 11637 Webb Chapel Road, just south of Forest Lane. We'll be continuing our door prize tradition, giving out a classic boating book from collections donated by Pat Baldwin to a lucky winner.

Our meetings are a great opportunity to socialize with fellow WBA members and to talk shop on questions on everything from paint and varnish to carburetor kits. We'll be swapping stories of our various boating and project adventures. Plus, we'll have a presentation of general interest to antique and classic boating enthusiasts. And, of course, we'll have generous helpings of fellowship and Italian food.

Join us for a light meal and moderate libation at 5:30 p.m. at Two Guys from Italy prior to the meeting. We encourage you to join us for dinner, so we'll always have the required minimum number of diners to avoid a room charge.

Shop Talk and Musings:

One of the unexpected pleasures of participating in Keels & Wheels for both Scott Myers and Steve McCune was to be interviewed by CBS Sports Network crews for their show "Magnificent Machines". The show will air in two parts, according to the information we received. As we understand it, the cars portion of the show will air on July 6 at 8:30 a.m. CDT. The boats portion should air the following week, July 13, at 8:30 a.m. CDT. If we hear anything different, we'll let you know. Check your cable provider for CBS Sports Network channel information. We're looking forward to seeing our members and their boats on the air!

And finally, please take a look in the shed or garage for leftover parts or other salable items you can donate to the Club. Bring them to any WBA meeting, or contact David Kanally at david@historywithheart.com for pickup.
