Hills Do Disappearing Magic at Banquet

l-r: Ron and Jeff Hill, Sarah, David Kanally and Bob Van Guilder

Ron and Jeff Hill, a father and son team involved in the restoration and preservation of the unique Canadian Disappearing Propeller Boat, or Dispro, were a real hit at the WBA 2008 Installation Banquet on Saturday, January 19. The pair presented the history of the Disappearing Propeller Boat Company from 1916 until 1958, then showed photos of the restoration of Sarah, the Hills' 1926 "Dippy" that is familiar to boaters in North Texas waters and at area boat shows.

They event brought Sarah herself for show-and-tell on the verandah of the Canyon Creek Country Club, enabling banquet attendees to see a Dispro up close, and to have their questions answered by the experts! Special thanks to Ron (who flew in from Toronto for the occasion), Jeff and Jeff's wife Marilyn for being with us!

The banquet also featured the installation of WBA officers for 2008. Outgoing president David Kanally turned the Club Bell over to newly elected President Bob Van Guilder. The 2008 officers are:

President: Bob Van Guilder, Vice-President: Mark Webster, Secretary: Richard Haug, Treasurer: Phil Wolff.

Join us for a light meal and moderate libation prior to the meeting. We'll gather at Midway Point at 5:30. See you there!
