Banquet a Chris-Craft Family Affair!

Forty three WBA members and family attended the annual WBA Installation Banquet at Canyon Creek Country Club on January 13, 2007.  The inaugural event for the year welcomed Mike Green of Portland, Oregon, as the featured speaker.  Mike is the great-great grandson of Chris-Craft founder Christopher Columbus Smith, and is a professional wooden boat restorer.

Mike shared family and company photos of six generations of Smiths and Greens, from his great-great granddad to his own two lovely daughters.  In addition, Mike showed rare Chris-Craft factory footage from 1929, covering the design, manufacture, testing and launching of dozens of magnificent Chris-Craft vessels from that vintage year.

The program was extremely well-received by the Club.  Mike was generous with his time and knowledge, visiting the Club's shop in Lucas during the day on Saturday, speaking individually with many members about their projects, and visiting with members after the banquet.  Thanks, Mike, for being with us!

The 2007 officers were duly installed as well:  President David Kanally, Vice-President Bob Van Guilder, Treasurer Phil Wolff and Secretary Richard Haug.  Outgoing Secretary Stan Lehnhardt was recognized for his exemplary service to the club as secretary.

At the conclusion of the banquet, Vice-President Bob Van Guilder announced the Outstanding Achievement Award to be given to Dick Peterson, for his many years of dynamic leadership and selfless service to the WBA.
